The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota is a sovereign nation in the heart of North America comprised of a people in harmony with our unique traditions and culture. As a tribally owned entity organized under and governed by the laws of Turtle Mountain, Mikinok aims to empower their people to become better and do better. Mikinok also plays a vital role in the economic development of the tribal community.

“Mikinok” means turtle in Ojibwe, the native language of the tribe. Legends says that when viewed from the south, the landform known as the ‘Turtle Mountain’ appeared as a turtle on the horizon with the head pointing westward and the tail to the east. The logo was specifically designed to keep the meaning of the company’s name at the forefront of their brand. The hexagon within the turtle symbolize the six tribal growth pillars Mikinok’s employees are drive by – Ashinangwana (curious), Askwanis (introspective), Gigi Degwewin (advocate), Songidee (courageous), Minwenima (action-oriented) and Nin-goshkosse (connected).

The goal of the marketing guide below is to serve as a tool to promote and maintain the visual integrity of Mikinok’s brand and its associated attributes.
